About us

The Chester-le-Street branch formed in 1996 when a few local supporters got together to arrange travel to home matches. The branch quickly established itself and is now proud to be the largest branch outside London.

For sixteen years the branch met in the Relton Club, however due to economic changes the decision was made, in August 2011, to move to a new location, still in Chester-le-Street - Easy Street. After only a year Easy Street closed with no prior notice, forcing the committee to look, once again, for a new home for the branch. A couple of local bars offered the use of their facilities and as a short-term solution, until all options could be checked we agreed to use the Red Lion, which allows the buses to leave from the same place for both home and away matches. The arrangement hasn't worked out and at the very first Sunday early kick off we were let down. After consultation with members and meetings with clubs in Chester-le-Street we returned to our original home at the Relton, however this was still very unstable and the Relton committee advised that the club was to close at the beginning of October 2013. Further talks took place and a members ballot was held. The members voted to go to the Cricket Club and from October 2013 this has been the base for branch meetings and for members to obtain bus tickets prior to home matches. Buses for home and away matches will continue to leave from outside the Relton Club.

The branch meetings are held the last Wednesday of the month.

A members draw takes place before each home game and at meetings for 10 x £1 drinks tokens.

We also run buses to every home game with discounted fares for members and concessionary rates for senior and junior members.

Since the branch was formed we have supported a number of local and national charities, raising thousands of pounds to help maintain the excellent work carried out in the North-East.

New members are always welcome. Come along to a meeting or contact us for more information.
